Bret Michaels on Diabetes Manage it Well and Rock it Hard

I got to speak to Bret Michaels, a magnetic personality and categorical example of a rock star, who first gained fame as the lead of the popular metal band Poison. He has evolved to add actor, director, producer, screenwriter and reality television star to his list of credits.
He appeared on Celebrity Apprentice 3 in 2010 and won $250,000 for The American Diabetes Association. The win was even more impressive given the fact he was making headlines at the same time for dealing with serious health issues: an emergency appendectomy, a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage, transient ischemic attacks and the discovery of a hole in his heart.
With each blow, Michaels quickly got back up and kept going.
Did I mention he also has Type 1 diabetes? A long-time diabetes advocate and charitable contributor, Michaels is helping the ADA with their Stop Diabetes movement for American Diabetes Month by serving as their "Face of Diabetes."
Diagnosed at age 6, he has had Type 1 diabetes for over 40 years.15 top 40 hits. His reality show Rock of Love is Vh1's highest-rated series.Has two daughters with Kristi Lynn GibsonMichaels is expected to make a full recovery from the subarachnoid hemorrhage he suffered in April 2010. His doctor stated this only happens in 10-20% of all cases.
Michaels was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 6. In the late 1980s he collapsed onstage during a Poison concert at Madison Square Garden. He publicly announced it was due to low blood sugar from Type 1 diabetes after the media speculated it was from drug use. Since that time, he has been vocal and open about his life with the disease. He has made charitable contributions, helped in campaigns and has sent kids to diabetes camps.
He is serving as the "Face of Diabetes" during American Diabetes Month for the American Diabetes Association's Stop Diabetes movement.
