Controlling Blood Sugar Levels Important To Prevent And Treat Diabetes

We as a species are clearly heading down the wrong path with regards to the protection of our health and wellness. The almost total lack of muscular exertion in our sedentary modern world combined with the wrong types of foods and way too much of them are making an ever increasing number of us overweight, sick and immobile.

The outcome of the way we are living is a downgrading of our metabolism (our bodies engine) which is causing us to become over-fat as we simply cannot utilize the energy we take in each day because we have become so inactive.

Being overweight is not a natural condition for the human body and accelerates a host of problems. Even things like the increased loading of the spine and joints causes them to break down and hurt which means the desire to be active is reduced even more.

As a person's strength and fitness further deteriorate and be lost, the world becomes a smaller place and the downward health spiral continues. The quality of life is then reduced for as much as the last third of life which is not how it should be.

Our modern diet of mainly refined and processed non-foods (they have few to zero nutrients) have an abundance of empty calories meaning our blood sugar levels are continually high. There is not enough muscular activity to burn up the sugar in the blood so it hangs around circulating in the blood stream ending up getting into places it should not be causing damage to body organs, tissues and cells.

It is this damage that can trigger serious disease which we see all around us today. Eventually if we keep going down this track our body tries to protect itself from high blood sugar by shutting down the receptors that allow it into the cells. This 'glucose intolerance' is the fore-runner to diabetes which means your body's ability to control blood sugar levels has become impaired.

This is so serious that over the last 20 years the number of diabetics has risen from 30 million to 246 million. This is predicted to be just the tip of the iceberg for as many as one third of diabetics do not even know that they suffer from the disease. Therefore they are doing nothing to halt its progress.

This creeping blood sugar intolerance often displays no visible symptoms and it can be one of the most destructive changes to our body as we get older. Of course we cannot control our age but we can absolutely control the main three factors that change the processing of blood sugar for the worse.

1 - not doing enough proper muscle building and maintaining exercise
2 - a diet high in processed foods that contain man made fats, sugars and starches
3 - body fat levels increasing

The solution - a proper strength training program that will ensure muscles are exercised properly through their ranges of movement with adequate resistance to keep them strong and healthy. This will have them gobbling up sugar from the blood efficiently. Next ditch the processed non-nutrient foods and replace them with whole natural foods that you cook from scratch.

This simple solution of proper exercise 2-3 times each week supported with improved nutrition means you can bring this problem under control or prevent it happening in the first place. The two factors that will have a lasting effect on metabolism is by improving and reducing high levels of glucose in the blood stream and reducing body fat levels over time.

You will be improving your health from the inside where it may not be visible but will give you not only a higher quality of life as well as greater disease protection from these modern killer diseases stalking us all.

Type 2 Diabetes - Exercise and Blood Sugar Levels!

There is little question today that exercise is very important for someone with Type 2 diabetes. By combining the effects of a change in diet with exercise, many people have been able to reverse their condition without the need for medication. Although the idea is to reverse the condition naturally, some people also have to take medication that has been prescribed to help control their blood sugar levels and even their weight until they're able to make the substantial lifestyle changes.

So how does blood sugar relate to exercise?

Exercise does several different things to help control Type 2 diabetes. For example, it improves the body's use of insulin and also helps to burn excess fat. By burning off excess fat, this helps to decrease and control the Type 2 diabetic's weight. Decreasing body fat actually helps the body use insulin better. Exercise also improves muscle strength as well as bone density. Exercise lowers blood pressure and helps to protect the heart and blood vessels against disease. It decreases LDL cholesterol while increasing HDL cholesterol, which is a good thing

Many Type 2 diabetics have a problem with blood circulation and have a higher risk of heart disease. Exercise improves circulation and reduces the risk of heart disease. It also increases energy level, reduces stress, helps to release tension and anxiety and promotes relaxation. Even for those who say they hate exercise, there is little question that it has far too many benefits to be ignored.

Typically, insulin is released from the pancreas when the amount of blood sugar increases. This typically happens after eating. Insulin stimulates the muscles and liver to take in the extra glucose which results in the lowering of the blood sugar level. When exercising, your body will need this extra energy for the muscles. When you are performing short bursts of exercise, the liver and muscles can release the glucose stores for fuel. As exercise continues in a moderate pace, the muscles take up the glucose at almost 20 times the normal rate which lowers blood sugar levels.

It is important to note that intense exercise can have the opposite effect on a Type 2 diabetic and actually increase the blood sugar levels. This is because the body recognizes intense exercise and stress and will release the stress hormones which tell the body to increase blood sugar in order to fuel the muscles. For a diabetic, this may result in the need to have a little bit of insulin after an intense workout.

Weight Loss Requires Blood Sugar Levels To Be Stable

We used to think that only diabetics had to be concerned about their blood sugar levels but this is not so anymore. We tend not to give our blood sugar (glucose) levels a second thought but we need to if we are to reduce our risk of nasty chronic diseases which have become epidemic in our over-fed, under-exercised modern sedentary world.

Our blood sugar levels are important to our overall health and can affect how fat or slim we are, how energetic or not we feel, how hungry we feel or whether we burn fat or store it. All of these things affect the quality of our life both short-term and long-term. The latest research says the one in four of us has pre-diabetes and does not know it and if this current trend continues, one in three of us will be diagnosed with this chronic disease of diabetes in our lifetime. So it is serious stuff.

Some of the signs you are heading down this path may be a feeling really tired and listless during the day, you may be anything from slightly to very overweight, your daily and/or work schedule is stressful, you have irregular eating patterns and may have high blood sugar/fats/pressure. All of these symptoms can leave you susceptible to diabetes.

The foods that affect our blood sugar levels the most and cause them to fluctuate wildly are processed refined non-nutrient foods. These can range from baked goods like biscuits and cakes to sugary drinks, breads, pastas, grains, sweets, fruit and cereals.

If you have become overweight especially around the tummy, feel tired a lot of the time or have become a slave to a roller coaster of uncontrollable food cravings it might be time to take a detour from the road you are going down. The change you should make to control your blood sugar levels are one and the same that anyone who wants to be healthy should follow.

It should include a proper exercise program that is made up mostly strength training exercise to get those muscles working, strong and toned up. This will allow them to take up and process sugar from the blood so it can be burnt up harmlessly for energy. Regular exercise that directly involves working the muscles with adequate resistance is the most potent diabetes defense at your disposal.

In other words, strength training exercise improves your body's ability to control blood sugar levels and respond to insulin at every possible step in the process. And these are the keys to helping to prevent diabetes or controlling it if you already have it.

Eat to support your exercise program with small meals of natural foods cooked from scratch each with a portion of protein and the balance vegetables will keep blood sugar steady, curb hunger and prevent overeating. Eating unprocessed foods will also maintain high energy levels which will make you want to be more physically active.

The damage to our body that leads to diabetes and other chronic preventable 'lifestyle' diseases such as heart disease, cancer and many others does not happen overnight. It can take years of disuse and neglect to reach the disease state. But once it happens there is no cure for a broken down body.

Make sure it does not happen to you and a few changes in your lifestyle such as healthier eating and proper exercise will put you on a healthier path so you avoid these modern diseases that can rob you of not only your health but your life as well.

If you feel that your weight is a problem for you, and you would like to get on the fat loss fast track by increasing your metabolism, grab my free 35-page report that shows you The Best Way To Lose Weight. Maintaining Your Normal Sugar Levels With Much More Ease

ByAhamed CassimArticle Word Count: 428[View Summary]Comments (0)

In normal conditions, the hormones which are responsible in regulating blood glucose levels are being produced in the right amount and at the right time with the help of the feedback mechanism inside the body. However, yet there can be down times where these hormones will not work properly and are not produced in the correct manner. As a result, when a person has a meal and then this causes his/her normal blood sugar levels after eating, not stable anymore. This could also be because of the insufficient insulin hormone which helps in regulation by converting glucose into glycogen. As a result the whole list of normal sugar levels inside the body gets into instability, where the levels may be lower or higher than the normal blood sugar range. When these normal levels gets exceed than the maximum limit, the person may have developed diabetes. It is so important for an individual to maintain his/her healthy blood sugar levels throughout their lifetime.

So, the people who are at high tendency to develop diabetes should always stick into a regular eating pattern by which they can control their diabetes blood sugar levels. The normal blood sugar levels ranges from 3.6 - 5.8 mMol/L (millimoles/liter) and therefore any value within this range is said to be normal. These people should always and is recommended for them to measure their glucose levels constantly in order for them to monitor their internal environment constantly, so that they can keep track of their normal sugar levels. They can use a glucose level measuring meter for this purpose. Normal blood sugar levels during pregnancy falls under the category of exceptions. Because the normal blood glucose level in their body are different from other individuals. If you are experiencing the following symptoms or signs you may be diagnosed with diabetes.

1) Extreme thirstiness - Due to the increased concentration of blood glucose in blood the glucose is passed into the urine and then as the urine gets more concentrated, water moves from blood into the tubules when urine is collected and makes a large volume of urine. So you may feel thirsty unusually.

2) Frequent urge to urinate as the volume of the urine is large and is frequently being filled very faster than normal.

3) Blurred vision may be experienced by the patient

4) Tiredness

In present, genetic modification is done in order to make the normal cells to produce insulin as well and also the patients may be given prescribed amounts of insulin doses after their meals.
